I slid the small dagger on to the rack. "That came out a bit more fancy then I expected."
The dagger had an Arabian look to it with a slightly curved blade. It's handle looked like it was made of ivory, with a small ruby, about the size of a child's hand, at the pommel. The thing was, Ihadn't added ivory or a ruby to it's Forging.
"The Sabre shapes itself. All you do is add the power.
"And myself," I finished. "I know. So the question is, what went in to Charlotte's Sabre?"
((Hee hee. I've been alluding to this for a while, and now it's ready.))

I knocked gently on the window, letting the occupant of the room know I was there, and I think I still surprised him as he looked up at and through the skylight window.
Once he recognized me, he just nodded and gestured around to the front door. I smiled and instead, picked the lock with a little trick I had picked up without so much as scratching the glass, and the silently slipped in through the small opening.
"You know," Doc commented as he put the soul-weapon he'd been working on away in a velvet-lined box off to the side, "most people come in through the doors, and when they come in through windows, the windows are actually big enough to let them in."
"I got in," I commented as I walked around the small blacksmith shop.
"Remind me to never ask how you did it too," he retorted, walking out of the room, toweling the sweat off of himself.
"Refreshment?" he asked after I had followed him into the small kitchenette in the Dojo.
"Water," I answered, catching the bottle as he threw it to me. "Some night, huh?" I tried to relieve tension with humor.
"Oh, well let's see, I and two of my closest friends nearly died because another close friend had died and returned reincarnated into a Soul Sword, as you call it, and in order to save our lives that close friend, your brother apparently, had to be ressurected by a goddess who is better known for her fashion sense rather than her accuracy with her miracles and powers. Then, to top it all off, I just finished making a Soul-weapon for a girl we only met a couple months ago, is emotionally unstable, and was raised by Watchers, who I've spent half my adult life hating. If that falls under the category of 'Some night' Avalon, I would hate to see your version of a bad night."
I shrugged, sitting down. After a swig of the water, I set it down and stood back up. "Well, it is not over yet," I told him, reaching into an inner pocket of my jacket.
Curious, he stood up and walked over to me. When I removed my hand from the folds of my jacket, I was holding an object, which instantly captured Doc's gaze.
"I finished this five days ago. According to Willow and the others, whom I spoke with briefly over the three days Joshua was unconscious, that was roughly the same time that Maya went critical and would not wake up. It is also roughly a little time before I lost contact with Joshua. But . . . my point is . . . that I have finished it." I told the physically older Soul Sabre warrior.
In my hand was a very ornate hilt of a sword, just over a foot long, which made it possible to be used for either single or double hand grip. It was mostly silver, with streaks of black and gold, which made it as much a piece of art as the handle for a dangerous weapon.
The surprise was, I was only holding a hilt. There was no blade there to make it a weapon.
"This is Maya's Soul Sword," I elaborated.

"I'm not going to say I quite expected it to look like that," I admitted. "The Sabres - or Swords, as you insist - have a tendency of Forging themselves, shaping around emotions or what you put into it. Did it at least start with a blade?"

"Something like that," I answered him, letting him take and examine the hilt of what should have been a dangerous weapon. "With Joshua, my own Sword was at full power, so it was easy to open a rift to a sub-pocket dimension where other-realmly materials were stored. But I also used iron, and gold, and even alloyed a couple bars of steel into it. And I *do* know how to forge a sword, but as you have said . . ."
We stared at the hilt, " . . . the Soul Sabres forge themselves."
I paused as he handed Mai's weapon back to me. "I cannot explain it, except something that Joshua said before he became too distracted and I lost contact with him. Something about this being the perfected model of a Soul Sword, where the wielder's own soul makes it full powered. I did not really understand him at the time, but I just assumed it was a 'Soul in a Soul-weapon' thing."
Doc's eyes lost focus for several moments, and I knew he was communicating with his own weapon, as I could no longer do. Not that I was ungrateful for Joshua's return to the living world, but there is a comfort, having that little voice in the back of your mind, whispering encouragement and advice.

'Is that possible?' I asked in what I had dubbed teh Soul Room.
'I suppose,' the other me said. 'But it would take a concentration like nothing else to accomplish.'
'So exactly what does it do?'
'Think a llightsaber cross She-Ra's Sword of Honour.'
'Damn.'
"Okay, that's an interesting thought," I muttered. Avalon looked at me. "She-Ra's Sword, lightsabre, that," I pointed at Maya's weapon.
((Is that alright?))

(((Dead on accurate actually ;D )))
"You must forgive my ignorance," I was utterly baffled, "Lightsabre? She-Ra? I have been in the Realm of the Dead and among the Crossroads for 400 years, training to be the perfect warrior. Joshua has tried to enlighten me on what he called trivia, but I am afraid I must admit that I never took such studies seriously."
(((What? I'm just being true to the character.)))

"If you're going to hang with ua, Pendragon, you'll need to know the pop culture references," Avalon raised an eyebrow.
"Pendragon?" She asked.
"Arthurs last name," I reminded her. "Since, according to old legends, he rests..."
"On the Isle of Avalon," she finished. "That reference I get."
"Thankfully," I joked. "alright, She-Ra was a cartoon a while back. Magic sword that changed it's form, gave her horse wings, let her change forms, though I'm not sure Maya's does that. A lightsabre is a laser sword from a sereis of movies called Star Wars. Get Josuha to lt you watch those, you'll have a god chuckle. You could probably do the stuff from those."
((What? She needed a nick name.))

(((No objections)))
I nodded my agreement. Then I felt something through what I had believed was a closed link. I felt Joshua! But that should not have been possible . . . unless . . .
No matter. A riddle for me to solve at a later date.
A moment of contact was all I needed to know what he was doing at the moment, and the only reason I felt him in the first place was because of a rather strong emotional reaction he suddenly had. Nothing bad, but most certainly nothing that I wanted to know about the man I considered my brother. Come to think of it, I never wanted to know that about any man!
It only happened for a single moment, after which I shivered and shook my head to clear it of the remainders of the thought impression.
"You all right?" Doc asked at my shiver.
"Nothing, it is nothing," I suddenly cocked my head to the side. "We do have company however. I believe you are expecting Charlotte?"
The moment I stopped speaking, Doc heard the door to the Dojo open and then slam shut as it closed on it's own.
"Yep," he nodded, not at all worried. "That should be her now." He went back to get the box with the sabre/dagger in it.
I chose to remain where I stood for the moment.

((I'm guessing that is actually supposed to be me- if not tell me and I'll go away)) True to my curiosity I went to meet Doc at the Dojo. I hadn't expected Avalon to be there too but I greeted her fairly warmly I think. "So." I began (I'm really not good with patience so going straight to the matter seemed best) "what'd you drag me all the way over here for?"

((Joshua, it was on a rack, not in a box.))
Okay, i was hoping I'd have some time to preapre this, but with Avalon showing up, I didn't really have time to think on how I was going to say this. Especially with the way the Sabre had turned out.
"Hey, Charlotte," I said evenly, moving to teh rack. How do to this? "I have a little something for you. Call it a...belated 'welcome to Hell' gift, since I started it pretty much the night you first arrived," that was a good start, I thought, taking teh Sabre from its place on the rack. "Here. It's a Soul Sabre. And it's yours, made especially for you. No one else can use it."

"Huh?" Was about all i could manage. It was so simply said but I couldn't quite take in what I'd just heard. "It's a what? For what? I can what? Huh?" I babbled. Doc was holding the most beautiful weapon I had ever seen-it was...well beautiful and something in me was crying out to hold it or even just to touch it. "Take it." Doc said and I did, slowly lifting it from his hands and feeling the smooth ivory of the handle. "W-what do i do?" I asked still staring wide eyed at the instrument in my hand.

"That's for you to decied," I said with a smile. "It's yours. It's inactive at teh moment. You'll need to figure out how to activate it yourself, i can't help you with that, it's up to you," I couldn't take my eyes of her. The Sbre suited her so well. A beuatiful weapon for a beautiful girl.
Where the hell'd that come from?
((It starts. ;D))

Suddenly my head snapped off in a direction, drawing the attention of the others in the room.
"Something is wrong with Joshua. He is calling for help. Go to Maya's apartment as soon as possible!" I snapped at Doc before disappearing.
The travel was nearly instantaneous, even to me, as I flew through the air and leaped between buildings with the preturnatural strength I possessed and the high-level ninja training I had completed and kept myself up in.
Only scarce minutes after Joshua uncovered himself and found his body unable to function I was standing over the bed he lay on, having arrived so silently and quickly that even Maya's enhanced Slayer senses did not detect me.
It only took a moment looking my brother over for me to realize precisely what the problem was. Tsunade would be proud that her legacy was in the right hands.

I had so many more questions to ask Doc, all kinds of them spun around my head 'how' questions, a 'why' question featured prominently but Avalon's revelation cut them all off. There was no way this could happen, there was no way we were saving Joshua only for him to die and there was no way I was letting Maya lose him again. Ok I was being pessimistic but Avalon's tone hadn't suggested that the 'something wrong' was a case of chicken pox, which is too bad cas Mai could've got rid of that in a second. I looked at Doc as Avalon disappeared and realised he was looking at me strangely, I had never seen him look at me the way he was and it was strange, I didn't know what it meant (I don't think he did either.) "Time to skidattle?" I said.
