I cautiously opened the crypt, staying behind the shadow of the large door by pure force of habit. I squinted into the sun; I hadn't seen it so clearly in ages uncounted. I moved a hand slowly out of the shadows, feeling the heat of Anar on my skin. I closed my eyes, revelling in the forgotten feeling.
"Arien," I whispered, "Hendulya nar er alcarinquë."
Upon the wind I could hear a laugh, and I felt the heat intesify on my hand. I could almost hear her calling: come to me, come into the light, come back to the day. I could do no more than obey, than to reclaim this forgotten time as my own. I was no longer a child of the darkness, I was whole, I was complete.
I came fully out of the crypt, falling into the bright green grass and laughing loudly and calling out to the sky "Epélien!"
Aralin, behind me, stood in the doorway, a simple smile perched on her features. And upon the wind, we again heard a laugh, and I could feel Arien's smile upon my face. The light of Laurelin, the shining of Anar, would never be forgotten.
((translations and explanations! yay! my god, the footnotes are going to be longer than my friggin' post!
Hendulya nar er alcarinquë: Your eyes are still bright [lit. brilliant] Arien was the maia chosen to carry the vessel Anar (the sun) because she was the only one who could withstand the heat of Laurien (the golden tree) before it was destroyed. It is said that her eyes were too bright for even the elves to behold.
Epélien!: I have returned!
bwah ha ha! there you go.))

"You too huh," I said from atop a crypt a few crypts away.

"All these former vamps," I said, leaning against a nearby tree. "Is this going happen often?" I looked at Del, then Lin. "We need to talk."

I would have laughed had I not know the reason I was now human. Of coarse no one else knew.

I looked at Rogue and smiled knowingly at her; I knew how she felt right now, the reminder of what it was that we'd once lost. It was brilliant. Aralin cleared her throat, rather delicately I must say, and nodded towards i tirno. I sighed; I knew I'd have to tell him sooner or later, but I was really hoping to go with the 'later' option. So, why not play innocent? "Talk?" I questioned, smiling brightly. "Whatever about?" (( zut alors! there is no elvish! whatever will we do?!))

"I tirno," I said. "More importantly, why suddenly I'm it, according to you two."

I gave Aredhel a small smile and jumped down from the crypt.

Aralin looked at me. I stared straight back at her. One question, at least, was answered: he had no idea. I almost laughed at it all. He obviously knew about i tirno, and about the legends surrounding him. He knew what it was, he knew what it entailed, but he didn't know. He couldn't put together the fact that he held a balance inside himself. That should have been the clue right there.
"Doc," I said gently. "You know who i tirno is. Put two and two together. What's there to talk about?"

"A guardian of such power even some of the Younger Gods fear him," I quoted from a text I had found. "A judge, a protector of the innocent. Something earned through perfect balance. Please point out which of those I have had longer than my entire life, 'cause as far as I know, it takes that long to draw tat kind of power."
(((I know, Doubting Thomas. Given his past, however, he would be thinking 'why do I deserve this', wouldn't he?)))

I looked at Doc then to Aredhel, not knowing exactly what they were talking about, but at least something of what they were talking about.

I sighed, looking to my sister, who in turn could only shake her head. He was so difficult sometimes. But we would be patient, we would explain, and we would wait until he could accept it. For being i tirno was not a position to be taken lightly.
"The balance within i tirnor is not something that can be attained by training alone," Aralin began to explain. "And thus one cannot assume the time it would take to rach such a level of being. It is a sacred duty, bestowed upon the worthy by the Gods themselves."
"Doc," I said slowly, "Look inside yourself. You felt it during the battle, the balance within. You held more control than ever before, you were powerful. How can you ignore that? Náccë cálë ar mornië. Náccë tirno."
((i love elvish.
i tirnor: the guardians. (there isn't only one people) náccë cálë ar mornië: you are light and dark náccë tirno: you are a guardian
don't you love elvish?))

I looked at her. this was... this was too much, even for me. May's the Slayer in the family, she's the one with the destiny.
"The Gods, huh?" I muttered. "So fate, destiny, all that? They just can't stop screwing around with me can they?"
