The First Snow Fall

The cold never reached me. I could feel it but it could not be felt by my own brain. Cold to the touch, frozen. Or at least I should be. For some reason my body never did freeze. A concern my first winter since I did not create any heat within my own body and yet I never froze. If it got cold enough I would freeze, at least I assumed I would.

For now I sat upon the top of my crypt, legs crossed in a meditative fashion, enjoying the alien silence the snow created. People didn't dare come outside and with the roads coated in snow they were a pain to drive in. The silence is what drew me outside. No birds chirped, no crickets with their infernal and constant noise making there was only silence in the air. For the moment I was truly alone.

Snow was continuing to fall, adding likely another inch before the sun would rise.

Of course I wasn't dressed to match the snow but for now with no one around I didn't care if someone saw me wearing only a tank top and jeans. I had no pretenses to up hold. No one innocent would come here tonight.

He walked up to the crypt, noticing her on the roof with a smile. "Nice view?" he asked, scratching his bandages. Damn cracked ribs. At least they weren't broken.

"It wasn't the view I was admiring, it was the silence." Pity it was interrupted but given who it was I would make an exception to the killing.

"You should be resting." Tilting my head I watched him curiously, not moving from my spot. He was going to get himself killed like this. No doubt I would kill all of LA until I found the killer. I seemed to be highly unstable mentally around him. Love is a useless emotion and yet... Hm...

"I was bored," he said. "Besides, I'm fine. I can walk without falling over my own feet again, that's a plus," okay, so I can't through a punch without pain shooting through my body, he thought. That's what the Beretta under my jacket was for. They can't catch me if they don't have kneecaps.

"You were bored?" Nice to know where I am priority wise.

I wasn't annoyed or even the slightest bit angry. He meant nothing by that but even as I remained impassive I could feel the corner of my lip wanting to curl up in amusement.

[Jackson ''Doc'' Ellison]

"Well, you don't come by to visit," he said, leaning against the building. "You could have been nurssing me back to health."

"I'm not invited." Again, not annoyed, just stating a fact.

[Jackson ''Doc'' Ellison]

"You could ask," he pointed out. "It's not like I have a reason to say 'no'. Esspecially after your little commando raid."

["Rogue" Annie Amina Cross]

"That's not very proper now is it? Nor polite. Actually rather rude to ask for an invite." Besides, part of me couldn't help feeling a bit indignant, why should I need to ask for an invite?

[Jackson ''Doc'' Ellison]

"Um..." he began. "And excuse me if I'm wrong, i've never really gotten this, but... don't you actually have to show up at the residence to get an invite?"

"Smart arse. I want you to invite me because you want me in your home, not because you feel obligated to let me in. If I show up you might feel obligated."

[Jackson ''Doc'' Ellison]

"Rogue," he said flatly. "Do you really, really think I'd say 'come in' if i didn't want you in there, obligation or no?"

"Perhaps not but it makes a difference to me."

Men... They just didn't get it.

[Jackson ''Doc'' Ellison]

"I offered you a chance to come over before," he pointed out. "Remember? Sitting by the lake and all that?"

"True but I made no assumption that it was an open invitation." Shaking my head I looked down at him. "If you want me to come over more often than you need to say so. Isn't that clear yet or shall I break it down even further?"
