"That's a little strange, but we've had stranger. I'll help you figure it out, unless you didn't want your shadow demon powers anymore."

["Rogue" Annie Amina Cross]

"Too be honest, I liked them. The chance to be almost unkillable. I thought I was strong before but with those powers, I was able to feel everything around me, every heart beat..." I smilled softly at that. "I didn't have to take a life to feel whole, I felt like I was alive as well." I looked away and sighed. "I never thought I'd miss that feeling. I did when I came back to my body but that died out soon. I was content on being. And for a year now I've been able to feel alive."

I wasn't used to telling people what really bothered me but this was Katie, my daughter in all ways that mattered. I cared for her as she cried and everytime her heart broke I peaced the peices back together again.

"That's kinda deep. But I get what you mean, in a sick twisted sort of way." I sat down on the couch, and I watched her pace. I would have done anything to feel that way when I wasn't a wolf. "Did you try shining a flashlight on you?" I gave her a goofy grin, showing her I was teasing

I grinned back at her. "It sounds stupid but I already tried that. It ended with a very confused slayer and a little one needing a new diaper. It was interesting to say the least."

My smile faultered for a moment. "I'm just afraid they're meaning something a little bigger than a flashlight." I was afraid the sun was the answer but I did not dare to test out my theory. "Doc had his powers taken away as well but he hasn't been visited by any demons, and I'm not sure if this demon is friend or foe. He feels like a friend but I'm unsure..."

I hate being so unsure. I was usually so good at reading people. But this time I couldn't read him.

"What if it's just a repeated dream?"

My smile faded when Rogue's did. I couldn't remember ever seeing her like this. She was always confident about various things. Even though she didn't say anything about the sun, it was clear that's what she was thinking. I didn't bring up the subject either. When she was done ranting, she turned and asked me a question. I wasn't really sure how to answer it, so I took a deep breath and tried. "It doesn't feel like a dream..."

"But thats the thing, I've had dreams where they've felt so real I've woken with bruises..." I knew I was fishing. I was afraid. Something I haven't felt in a great many years. Well that was almost true. I felt afraid when Moria was chasing me. But that was for my children. I haven't felt afraid for myself in years.

For once I wanted to goto heaven when I died. I did not want to goto hell. I knew a lot about hell. Been there a few times, both in this world and in the otherworlds. I feared the sun because I didn't want to goto hell. I didn't want it to be the end. I had too much to live for but I knew there were things comeing and if I wasn't a shadow demon I wouldn't be there to help. I might just not be around at all.

My thoughtful expression turned into a frown. What could possibly freak Rogue out this much? She was my mom, and it worried me seeing her like this. I stood up and placed an arm on her shoulder. With a raised eyebrow, I tried to comfort her. "Waking up with bruises? I think someone's in your dreams... Like that one time with the sleep demon and Mike... remember that?"

"No one was surprised at first, it had always been normal for him to sleep like that, at least until his lip split, than we had a problem,"

A demon no one could identify was messing with him but we later found out it had been a weird demon misqito that had pricked him and let it's eggs under his skin. It had a reaction within his brain which was rare but it was one of the few times she had been afraid for a human's life that wasn't related to Elizabeth while her vampire side was in control. She even shed a few tears without anyone noticing but than later gave him hell for being so stupid.

"How could I have ever forgotten?" I laughed slightly.

I nodded with a frown upon my face. It was disgusting when we figured out there was eggs under his skin, and I seriously hoped that a misquito hadn't bitten Rogue as well. "I don't know... I almost did though, why did I bring it up?"

["Rogue" Annie Amina Cross]

"I'm not sure," I replied with a small smile. "But it's nice to have you here. It's nice that you're here to listen. It helps a lot." I hugged her thankfully.

"So how long til you leave town?" I asked, changing the subject, but I also wanted to know.

["Ash" Ashley Lee]

I hugged her back and shrugged at the same time. "When ever you need me, I'll be here. Unless it's during the full moon, then I can't help it."

I gave her a cheesy grin, and stepped back. The grin disapeared and I turned serious. "I don't know. It's up to Ebony. We'll probably be here for a while... it depends on if she wants to stay in town... kinda some bad memories here, ya know?"

I gave a sad smile, "I know the feeling. But Ebony needs you more than I do, she has no one else with her but Candice."

"I wish I could help but I can't do much from here. I need to stay and watch over my kids," I sighed.

"I wish I could wrap you all in a blanket and keep you all safe,"

"I'll try to keep her here for a while." But we both knew that if something came up, then we would have to leave. "You wish a lot of things, don't you?" A chuckel escaped my throat. "You tried the whole keeping us away from the bad, but it just doesn't happen. We were on a hellmouth, and now we're cursed for ever. Bad things'll happen."

"I do, I wish I could keep you safe forever," I replied unable to think of what else to say. "I wish I could keep my whole family safe. If I could kill every monster in this world, all the evil, I would do it."

Even if it cost me my life.

It was the truth too.

I wasn't intirely sure what to say. "I know" I knew she would to. "But that's not going to happen. You do a great job at keeping what you can from us, but sometimes, things get through." I looked down at the ground, unsure of what i was thinking. What if there was a way to keep it all out?
