Name: Nanashi (no last name)
Age: 21
Strengths: Might know what's happening before it happens; knows 3 forms of martial arts and is adquately skilled at street-fighting; knows of some demon culture due to training with Slayer
Weaknesses: likely to go along with anyone who claims to know who she really is; headaches - painful, blinding, all-encompassing headaches; she's still only human, so a slayer or sufficiently skilled vampire could still beat her strength and probably kill her.
Appearance: Short hair, cropped at the chin and razored, dyed a very bright shade of red - she hasn't seen her natural hair colour in eight years. If anyone cared to look, they would see well-defined muscles beneath her shirts. She is thin, forced that way from a combination of rigorous work-outs and lack of food. Her eyes are a bright shade of green - a distinctive shade she's never seen beneath anyone else's brows. Her skin is pale, as she lives most of her life beneath the moonlight. She wears a hardened expression on her face, a combination of eternal pain from the visions (we'll get to that, don't worry!) and a feeling of resentment towards humanity in general. Usually found wearing a pair of jeans and a ratty pair of fingerless gloves - and not the cool leather kind, either: a pair of those thin wool gloves you wore as children, with the fingers cut off. A tank top bearing some sort of slogan is common-place, and she will usually throw a plain zip-up sweater over it to complete the goth/punk/prep look she has going.
Personality: The sort of devil-may-care type, Nanashi can't be defined as a "good-guy" or a "bad-guy". Though she plays the reluctant hero part very well, she would just as easily help the forces of evil if she felt they could offer her what she really sought after. She regards everyone around her with disdain - not because she feels better than them, but because she feels they cannot understand her. Yet, despite her hardened appearance, she is a very emotional person - one look at her eyes and you'll be pulled into her soul. At precise moments, one might even see a single tear rolling down her cheek, though she rarely lets more than one go in front of anyone. When in a good mood, she is prone to extreme hyper-activity and will often say random things and make random noises. When in a bad mood... well, just watch out.
History: Nanashi cannot remember anything beyond waking up with a burning pain in her skull, into the faces of the two people who would become her guardians, Lily and Eric Galena. What they presumed was her house was behind her, utterly destroyed. Only Nanashi survived - and DNA tests confirmed that the charred remains inside the house were once her parents. Unfortunately, Nanashi couldn't remember who they were - or even who she was! She didn't know how old she was, what her name was, or what had happened inside the house. Lily and Eric took her to various doctors, who said that she was suffering from a form of post-traumatic shock, and that her memories would eventually return, but they never did. They said that certian objects would envoke feelings, but Nanashi never felt anything she couldn't explain. It was as if she had never existed before waking up that day. Lily and Eric decided that, until she remembered, they would call her Nanashi - which was Japanese for "without name".
Doctor's placed her body development at 7 or 8 years old, and when she went to school, a diagnostic placed her in grade five - a grade above nine-year-olds. It became clear that Nanshi had retained all of her intelligence, her knowledge of facts and rules of language and math - but she still knew nothing of herself. She decided that she would be ten years old - the same age as those in her grade. Lily and Eric gave her a birthday party on the one-year anniversary of the day they found her. She had an identity now, but she wanted a life.
A few weeks after she was found, Nanashi began having nightmares. A woman was attacked by a monster, a man was bitten by a friend. She woke up in a cold sweat, screaming because of the pain in her head. Lily and Eric had run into the room and calmed her down, but it continued to happen. Sleep therapists couldn't explain it - but every time Nanashi had a nightmare, she would learn about something on the news, and she would see dead bodies of people that looked suspiciously like those in her dreams. After a while, they started happening during the day. She wouldn't tell anyone what she saw - only that her head felt like it was going to fall off. But after a while, she grew used to the pain, she knew when a vision was coming. But she couldn't understand them.
When she was 13, she ran away from Lily and Eric's home, determined to discover what the visions were for, and who she really was. It was during that time that she became a theif. For a year she survived like this, and soon became a proficient theif - not just in small jobs that she needed to survive. She joined up with a group of people who needed someone small like her - and she amazed them. She was immersed in the nightlife now, but she never forgot her purpose. That was when she met Arianna.
Late one night, Nanashi was returning from a solo heist, proudly wearing the ring she'd gotten out of a low-key jewellery store. She was taking a shortcut through a graveyard when she heard someone behind her. Spinning quickly, she'd seen a vampire. When he attacked her, she held him off, but it soon became clear that he was the better, stronger fighter. As he prepared to sink his teeth into her, Nanashi felt the pressure siddenly vanish as her attacker turned to dust. Standing behind her was a woman - Arianna, the Slayer.
Nanashi stayed with Arianna for a time, and learned form her watcher that her "condition" had been seen before - she was a conduit to the Power That Be. Her visions were meant to aid those who would do good. Unfortunately, her time with the Slayer was due to end - Arianna was killed by a vampire, and Nanashi was on her own again. This time, however, she knew how to use her powers, and how to recognize those who would benefit by them. She never stayed with anyone, though, and kept moving around. When she recieved a vision of a woman being murdered and sacrificed by demons in the city of Los Angeles, Nanashi had set off. And now, here she is.
