((wow... took me so long to type up that reply that Maya got in that big one before me. Now I must respond!))
Thunder, whenever it strikes, gives off an undeniable energy. I felt my entire body tremor at the impact. It hadn't even hit me. I could only imagine what it was like for- Oh no. Please, by the Valar, let it not be-
"I nehtar," Aralin breathed.
My eyes widened, my mind went blank. Though it could not fully kill all of the demons, the Celebhith managed to push them back. Or that could have been Maya's latest light show. Please, please let her be alright.
"Maya!" I cried, falling to the ground beside her, forgetting about the demons. The full weight of everything hit me, a staggering force. I could finally feel the gashes covering my skin. I could feel the bruises. The loss of blood made me dizzy. I ignored it all.
"Maya!" I cried again, feeling the damned tears coming again. I couldn't watch her die. I couldn't watch her do this. "Lá á qala! Lá á qala, melon nin!"
But she was not dead. I saw what she carried and horror struck me. She was not dead - yet. She would sarcifice herself to do her duty. She would do whatever she had to to keep the earth from the forces of darkness.
"Aranehtar," I wept. "Merin umbartëcca né umbartënya. Merin sa."
I knew she did not speek Elvish but somehow I knew she understood. She could hear what I was saying, but it was too late. She knew it, I knew it. I could do nothing. And so I continued to weep brokenly amidst a circle of demons that would not advance upon the doomed soul before me.
"Cariëccë rantacca. Caruva rantanya." I leant down, knowing she would wake, but not knowing if I would see her before the end. "I Valar á varya tye. Nai hiruvalyë Valimar. Nai elyë hiruva. Namárië, melon nin. Namárië."
I stood, the agonizing weight of my wounds and this new peril pushing down on me. I looked across the gathered masses. I saw the warriors of Isis. I saw the shifters, including the ancestors. I saw our motley crew, human demon and otherwise. I saw the living, I saw the dead. I saw pain, destruction. But I also saw hope. Amidst the darkness, I saw light.
"Haryin estel," came the voice of Aralin, still beside me. I had not noticed her. I was taken aback at how she looked; in the battle, I had not taken time to assess her injuries. She was as beaten as I, and that, it should be said, was very beaten. Blood was caked on her once-clean garments, her hair was matted to her face, and a grave expression adorned her features. But what she said held a more lasting impression. "Antiëccë nin estel."
And the weight lifted, as simple as that. There was hope. We would survive this, just as we survived the battles before us. I knew that Aralin was beside me as I moved towards the demons surrounding us.
"I raukor qaluva. Aurë entuluva," she said to me.
"Fioni morniëo," muttered darkly, holding aloft the Celebhith in one hand and my soul sabre in the other, "á tyavë ormën." Though I was weakened, I went at them with renewed vigour. The Celebith's power poured forth. I poured all of my energy into my attacks, forsaking all attempts to keep myself alive. I had already died once, what was another time? Perhaps this time I would find my way to Valimar, to the Halls of Mandos with others of my kin. And as I released myself, quietly I whispered "Mayan."
