I paused, catching my breath for a moment, glaring at the still stalking off Slayer. Growling under my breath, I focused my chi and forced it down to gather around my feet. Half a minute later, I jumped . . . over 100 feet into the air in a far arch, leaving a vague blue vaporous trail behind me as I careened through the sky.
A few well practiced flips and twist, I landed almost directly in front of Maya, almost on top of her if she had been going a step faster.
"Stop!" I demanded, grabbing her by the arms.
"Now either throw me off, potentially killing me by having me break my neck, or stop and calm down for half a minute!" I shouted at her before she could react beyond a startled scream.

"Get off me Josh!" i cried, struggling. Tears were building in my eyes. "Just leave me alone, please!" I sobbed.
"I dont understand!" He replied, "What the hell is all this about even?"
"Just get off!" I wrenched my arms away from him, "Just... stop it! Am i not allowed to be alone ever!? I hate this! Whereever i turn, whatever i do, one of you is there, trying to friggin protect me! I'm not a child!"

"We know that!" Josh cried, "But you're vulnerable right now! We're just trying to help, I..."
"I know!" I yelled, "You're just trying to help, you're just trying to protect me, well news flash, maybe i dont want it! Maybe it sounds crazy but perhaps i want a little time to myself sometimes! Is that too much to ask!?"
"Mai, where has this come from, what..."
"EVERYTHING!" I wailed, "Just... leave me alone." Tears were flowing now as i turned away and Josh tried to grab me again. He cuaght my shoulders, turning me, begging me to calm down and listen. "Get off! Get off!" I cried, batting him away pathetically, almost in hysterics. i was shaking. He wrapped his arms around me as my yells melted into sobs. I knew he was confused. His brow was knit in a deep frown as we sank to the ground, him holding me to him as i cried,
"Oh goddess, Josh..." I managed, "I'm so scared... i'm just so scared..."
