"Okay?" He chuckled humourlessly. "Okay? First i loose Charlotte, now Jessy. Maya, me and 'okay' parted company some time ago. I am squarely in the 'not okay' category," I looked into the sky, following Jessy's flight for as long as possible. "I need to go. Mal'll probably keep an eye on her. I need to be moving in case she does something...I'll regret."

I sighed, "You've not lost her, Doc, and that girl is not getting hurt- you think i missed the death and loss of loved ones chapter? Goddess, Doc- dont get at me for shutting people out and then do the same damned thing!"

It was a smile. Small, almost unoticeable, but a smile none the less.
"I'm not shutting anyone out, little sister," I whispered. "But if something happens to Jessy, I won't be able to forgive myself. Trust me, I'll be even worse off thant I was after..." I left it hanging. No need to finish the sentence.

It wouldn't be too hard. Charlie had done it. Just a little jump or a step and gravity would do the rest. I took a step closer. One more step. Take the fall. I took it.
At the last moment I shifter. Flying back towards my appartement, tears stinging my eyes I cursed myself. I was weak, and everyone who kept me strong hated me.

I sighed, wishing i had the ability to wipe away the recent pains from my friends and family... even from myself. I raised a hand in a silent wave to the others, and set off for home, where i knew no one would be waiting for me.

i was still out of breath, but anger burned inside me. she may have special powers, she may think herself as 'stronger' than everyone else. but she was wrong. i'd panicked, i hadn't even been sure of what was happening when Karen had made the bargain with me. it was all a blurr.
the anger became hotter.
i will now no longer stay anywhere where they can find me. i will work for my side, evil, and use all my strength in it. i will show that shifter, by the Goddess i will.

I burst into teh apartment, not caring if the door was locked or not. "Jessy?" I said. "You here, kiddo?" I moved carefully. If she was in as bad a shape as I was afraid she was, she might be a mouse or something. I don't want to tread on her. "Come on, Jess. It's just me. Please, you scared teh shit out of me taking off like that. I jsut want to make sure you're all right."
