Rachelle loved me? Since when did that happen? My eyes had popped out of my head when Maya mentioned that Rachelle loved me. When did that happen?
And then of course my mind was taken off that new found fact when Maya grabbed my hand and suggested we find out the spell that had been cast on us. Find out the spell together. Yeah right. Like I want to spend some time with Maya alone, together. She's strong. Slayer strong, and she was taught by Faith for cryin' out loud! No way would I be able to hold my own against a girl like that.
And matters was only made worse when Spike swaggered up to us, looked at Maya soundly in the eye, and punched her.

Maya promptly responded with a sharp blow to his chest sending spike stummbling backwards. Spike looked slightly dazed for a moment before his face contorted as he shifted into full vamp mode. In case that wasn't enough,at that precise momment Rory decided to literally leap to maya's defense by swinging himself onto spike's back and attempting to shift simultaneously. He was not successful. In fact all that he acheived was to be flung headfirst over the bar onto the ground, which to his surprise was soft and squishy. Meanwhile Jessy, realising that she was about to be hit by a bottle that was hurtling across the room, shifted into a mouse and sought refuge under the bar.
"oooowww!!! what the...?"
My peaceful sleep was suddenly shattered by a body landing on top of me. On top of the obvious shock I had a splitting headache and opened my eyes to see a mouse. come to think of it the mouse wasn't too bad. It had quite a pretty coat. Wait maybe that was the vodka still talking.

At least I hope its the vodka. But something told me that it wasn't. I threw Rory off me and stood up simultaneously gently smoothing the dark glowy mass of my hair and the creases out of my dress. I suddenly felt the need to look at my very best so I used my powers to sort myself out before glancing round the bar. No. Something definately wasn't right. In fact everyone was acting very strangely. Well everyone except Cervil, Killian and Joshua.
the mouse was glancing up at me. It still looked appealing. hmmm....
"guys is it strange to find a mouse attractive?"
maybe it was another bizzare goddess thing. Dude these powers are weird!

I stared at Ate, not believing my ears. She was attracted to a mouse? And when did she get here?
Ignoring the fact that a fight had just broken out, I rushed over at Ate.
"Did you just wake up? Do you remember what happened? How do you feel now? Do you think anything weird is happening? Do you feel any different?" I asked rapidly.

"WHY THE HELL DID YOU HIT ME!?" I yelled at Spike.
"Yeah, yeah, give it up, Jessy, i know the truth! The real Mai told me!"
"The...?" I frowned, and rolled my eyes, "What, you mean the real me who just turned into a mouse and ran towards the bar?" I scoffed. Spike looked around, and realised he'd been played,
"Oh." He said, "Bugger."
Meanwhile, Killian, hearing what i said, was looking increasingly worried...

"yes, no,crap,yes, no. In that order."
I flicked my hair over one shoulder and peered out of the corner of my eye to see if the mouse noticed. Killian raised one eyebrow.
I was in worse trouble than I thought
"You sure you don't feel any different?" he asked looking sceptical.
"O.k. maybe the mouse thing. That's definately different!"

My eyes grew wide as I heard what Maya said. I abandoned Ate (who was talking to the mouse about buying a cage of some sort) and hurried towards Maya.
"What do you mean Jessy transformed into a mouse? And if you touch me Maya I will cut off your arms."
"That actually happened to me." Spike said absently. "Done by one of you lot and all." He said, "slayer's...whom I love." He said.
"You want sympathy or something?" Maya scoffed. I rolled my eyes.

well thats not very nice, i thought. Heres me, putting my heart on the line, and he has to be all rude!
"I mean that Jessy turned into a mouse!" I snapped. "That mouse- see?" I pointed to the mouse Ate was now holding in one hand and stroking gently. "Mouse!"

I rushed over to Rory, behind the bar, my foot narrowly missing Jessy in mouse form. I kneeled down beside him and took his hand.
"Are you alright? Do you want me to hurt Spike for you?" I said soothingly.

I scooped up the mouse and placed it on the bar in front of me, then leaning an arm casually next to it I switched to my huskiest tone of voice.
" So I'm a goddess you know, quite powerful too. I have a nice warm pocket here if you want to try it"
I was greeted by silence and what looked like shock. That is if a mouse could look shocked. Now I was just being stupid. Come to think of it I was trying to chat up a mouse.
part of me knew It wasn't normal but after a brief struggle with myself I decided the attraction was just too strong so I persisted.
"you probably get this all the time but, don't I know you from somewhere? you look familiar."

I stared at Ate who was making the moves on the mouse.
"So let me get this straight, Jessy is the mouse?"
"You're quick aren't you?" Spike said sarcastically. I gave him the finger.
"Jessy is the mouse." Maya said, glaring at Spike.
"Does Ate know this?"

"HOw the hell am i supposed to know!?" I exclaimed. I was irritated now. How could Killian still be totally blind to my affection? Was i ugly? That must be it... or maybe... oh god... we were unconscious... did i have bed hair!? I squealed, and ran to the ladies room...

I watched as Maya squealed and run into the bathroom, her hands on her head.
"What's up with her?" I asked, mainly to myself.
But the answer i got was not what i expected. In fact, it wasn't even words. Spike was glaring at me. He clicked his fingers and got ready for a fight. My eyes flew wide open.
"Uh Spike...remember who you are. You don't hurt good guys anymore...especially me. You don't hurt me." I repeated nervously.
Spike grinned maliciously. "Things change kid. I used to be some evil killer...and I'm not that anymore. But, I think I can change my ways for today." He said. I gulped. I'm not a fighter. I'm some sort of messenger for the PTB, and I do not do well in fights. Especially against vampires.
I really wished Maya hadn't run off.

Wierd. My hair looks fine. Hm. I marched back out to see Spike on top of Killian. Ok, now this thing has gone too far.
"Get off him!" I yelled, throwing Spike off. "Killian, sweetie, you ok?"
He winced.
"We really have to stop this spell, seeing as you and i are the only ones not affected." I said.

I nodded, I really didn't have the strength, nor time to disagree with her. I wanted the spell to end now. It was annoying having Maya around me all the time-it was not like she wasn't pretty, or nice or anything, I just wasn't attracted to her...and she was way too forceful. I also wanted Rachelle to stop looking at Rory like that. At this rate, I was gonna kill him.
"Shall we go to the library then?" I said, through gritted teeth. Maya looked delighted.
"Alone?" She purred.
"Ok." I croaked.
