I wanted to hide, to... "AHHH!" I screamed. Maya jumped, looked at me and Cervil, before handing the drink to us. We both looked at eeachother as the spell died and then ran to opposite ends of the room. ((NOT FUNNY, MAYA! Honestly, I'm sick for a week and you do that to me? I'm insulted  )) |

My mind was replaying what had happened. the spell activated when I woke. So why had I changed from Jessy to...
Wait a sec. Ate had led Jessy away. Ate had...
If this had been a cartoon, my face would have been red and steam would be coming from my ears. Ate had been in my mind. Worse, she had affected my thoughts.

"Doc..." she began, but I was already in front of Ate.
"You went into my mind," I growled. "Uninvited. You played with my thoughts."
"Doc..." she began.
"You think that's FUNNY?" I growled again, even louder, almost a roar. "I think someone needs to see something," I carefully shielded the other telepaths, then hit Ate with everything I had experianced with Laurana, from the time she first laid her mental claws in me, right up to the point of my escape. Every humilation, every degrading moment, every shame.
Ate stepped back, horrified. "Stay out of my head," I turned and left, not a word to anyone.

I raised my eyebrows, watching Doc leave the Spot. Whatever he'd just said/done to Ate in her mind, it was something important. I slipped out of the Spot and followed him from a distance, wondering silently. I didn't so much mind that he was keeping something from me (or anyone else for that matter), but I wanted to make sure he didn't do anything... stupid.
