I smiled. "To hit with a heavy book or not to hit with a heavy book, that is the question."

((*rolls eyes* one post in the last like fifty days and it gets misinterperated(sp?) I meant hair change for me, blonde is good for you Jess... But don't mind me. I'm in a bad mood due to non-practical trousers))
"What is the sabre going to be given to someone?" I raised an eyebrow. "What happens if it gets in the wrong hands or something? Or is there like a protecty thing built in... Or am I starting to babble and make no sense?"

"There's no way anyone's using it for evil," I said, gaining looks from all save Aralin. "You have a Sabre, Nick-Nack, and you have your Soul Sword, Mai. Feel it out. There's a soul in there. A pure one too, if I'm feeling it right. That thing'd toast any demon or vampire it didn't agree with, and soul the one it did. Am I right?"

"The right one," I muttered. In my opinion sometimes no soul was better than a soul.

"jessy?" I whispered. I knew exactly what she was thinking. Rory. I'm dusting that son of a bitch the next chance I get. "This wasn't made specifically for this. It's different. The Sabre will choose. If it's a vampire, we'll deal. If not, we'll deal. Either way, we'll deal."

((ooooooh Doc you kick! Not a major plot point just a little thing I wanted to put in and Doc made the PERFECT lead up to it. Doc, you're my hero )) [ Aralin's POV] I had, until this point, been content to listen to them, smiling a bit at their antics, and smiling for real at the warm look given to me by Nicki. I didn't know quite what it was about but I felt it, which I'm sure is all that matters. But when they began to talk about the soul within, I knew that the time had finally come to say something. When we set out to look for it, Aredhel questioned me. When we found the sabre, again she questioned me. When we brought it back, she questioned once more, but I did not tell her. I could not reveal it to her then. "The sabre would not destroy any weilder," I said quietly, albeit a bit later than the rest of them had been talking about it. "Come again?" my sister questioned, raising her eyebrows slightly. She understood where I was going, but I knew she could not see the full weight of it. "The... the soul," it broke my heart to call him 'the soul' "the soul contained therein is one intended to save, not destroy." "Still not following..." I knew it took all of her will power to not break into my mind right there. She wanted so badly to know who was powering the great weapon, and she could feel in her heart the effect it had on me, but she couldn't know, and she respected me enough to let me say it for myself. "When the sword was created, we all had different agendas, but two things we agreed upon. One was that a soul would power it. The second was that, if we could find her, which obviously we didn't, we would give the sword to Aredhel." I paused, getting the story in order. It was now or never. "And...?" she prompted. I took a deep breath. "And, since your soul was still inside you, we could not call it forth to inhabit the sword. We needed another soul. And that soul could only be another immortal, called from beyond this world, a soul that did not wish to return in any other form. We chose a soul of special significance, one that would have pity on those that would otherwise be destroyed... a soul that my sister knew, one that had also saved me." Aredhel's eyes widened as the realization dawned on her. The others, however, had not yet heard the tale. "The soul-" I choked - he deserved to be named. "The soul was the reason she left me alive when she slaughtered our family. He was my son, who died fighting her kind. His name is Arasereg."

"Oh, Geez" I whispered in shock. Aralin's son powered that Sabre. Then something else came to me. They all had their own agendas, yet they all agreed Aredhel should get the Sabre. Hmm, interesting. Very interesting.
(((Sorry, Del. ;D Of course, I don't actually know where that thought might go, but anyway. It's ther if anyone wants to use it.)))
