"Box...stones..." I murmured, knowing i was barely there anymore. "We have them Mai." Jessy said. "Which one?" "Blue..." I managed- only the barest breath of a word. "Which one, there're two blue ones." Doc said. "Mai? The dark or the light? Maya?" I didn't hear him.
*third person* Doc grabbed her shoulders where she lay on the bed, and shook her slightly, "Maya? Mai wake up! Damn it Mai!" "Doc stop it!" Charlie cried. "We dont have time for this... just pick one." "What? What if it's the wrong one?" "They're all marked healing." Jessy pointed out. "Still!" He snapped, "If it hurt her more..." "We have no choice, mon ami." Des said. She held out the two stones to him, and he gaped, "Me?" He looked around at the others, but they just nodded- they agreed that he should do it. He picked a stone...

This was crazy. Theonly thing close to magic i had was my Chi Magic, and i was so weak at that, it was almost non existant.
"Please, let this work," I prayed, holding teh dark blue stone out.
At that moment, the stone began to glow,a glow that passed to Maya. We watched as her cuts closed, and teh bruising vanished.
"Ow," Maya whispered weakly, her eyes opening.
"It worked," I whispered, sitting back tiredly. I didn't feel to good. "Thank God, it worked. "You okay, Maya?"

"Jessy!" I admonished gently. "Not quite the right time!" But Maya had mustered a weak smile. "I'm rubbing off on you Mai, getting into dangerous situations on your own." We'd all heard the lecture and with Maya in the state she was i wasn't about to deliver it. I shook my head in a mock scolding action. "What are we going to do with you?"

"You could tell the room to stop moving for starters." I managed to say with a weak chuckle. "But i'm good... thanks." "No problem." Doc said with a wry smile, "You scared us for a while." "Scared me too." I chuckled again. "So... does this mean you're like... magical?" Jessy asked Doc, fiddling with the Dark blue stone. He laughed, shaking his head ans saying how he had barely any magic at all... but i wasn't listening. I was frowning at the stone- the only stone out of the box. "That... you..." "What is it?" Doc asked me. "You used that one?" "Yeah... should i not have?" "I... i meant the ligther one..." I gaped, my mind reeling. "Then how come it worked?" Charlie asked. "I dont know..." I murmured, "I mean, it is a healing stone... but... it has... conditions..." ((Over to you Doc. ))

(((And now, the fun bit.)))
"Conditions?" I asked. "I'm guessing inate magical ability isn't one of them."
"You're right there," Maya said, a look on her face. Worried, or nervous. "That stone... It only heals blood."
"What, like an illness in the blood?" Jessy asked. Maya shook her head, but didn't take her eyes off me.
"As in a blood relative," she said.
"The Boomerang," I breathed, not believing what this mean. It was true.
Maya really was my sister.

"But that's impossible." I said looking from one to the other. "I mean then Doc'd have to be....oh." My eyes widened. "He is. You're...what exactly? What haven't you guys told us?"

"I know its impossible." I said. My mind actually ached from trying to figure out what this really meant. "My family... and yours..." Doc's eyes widened, "Oh god." he murmured. "Yeah." I nodded. "What? what!?" Jessy asked. "One of our families... either Doc's or mine... was never our family in the first place, not really." "My sister..." "And my Brother and sister." "And parents?" He seemed as bewildered as me. "How can we possibly know...?" I gasped.

"Or you are related through a great great great great grandmother or something," I said optimistically. "Or if you believe that everyone is related.." I trailed off keeping my voice optimistic.

I shook my head... it was time to talk about the boomerang, finally. "In the Dojo, ages ago... we found a boomerang, apparently made for a slayer. I got cut, and my blood dripped on it, and writing appeared. It said that the wielder and the slayer- Doc and I- were brother and sister... i mean it said it in a whole load more words than that, but that was the gist. We didnt take it literally, as we feel that way anyway... but this... that stone only works with direct blood relation... long lost cousins wouldn't work... It's pretty damned conclusive... I just... I dont know..." I trailed off, looking to Doc.

"Mai, this doesn't change anything," I said. I was completely going mental inside, but outside, I remiained calm. I had. "You've been like a sister to me for ages. Besides, there are other possibilities," I guess I'd always wondered where my parents had gone when they left me sis and me.

I heard the thought- i couldnt help it, adn i shook my head violently, "No." I said outloud, "No, Doc, my parents wouldn't have... they couldnt have! My brother was two years older than me- thats only two younger than you... he'd be older than your sister! Its not possible!" I was babbling, trying to convince myself as much as him. My parents couldnt have done that... could they?

Okay, you're probably right," I said soothingly. "We'll just... call Willow," the thought had just popped into my head. "She's some hacker extrodinaire, right?"

"I can get some friends of mine to look into it too," I hugged Mai gently. "We'll figure it, Mai. But, in all honesty, it doesn't matter to me how it happened, or why. I don't think I could have asked for a better lost sister."
(((Aw, mushy.)))
