I saw Maya heading off and called to Doc. he quickly dealt with the rest of his vamps and I stabbed a couple as we hurried after her barely paying any attention to the vamps in our path-they didn't take much to kill.

"Grace you cowardly bitch! Get out here!" I yelled as i felt her near. There were barely any vamps left- once again we had reduced all her minions to a scattering of dust. Humans were fleeing, many screaming, and relatively few were left for dead. "GRACE!" I yelled.

"Maya, the bitch can wait," I said. Maya turned to me angrily. "Rule one, Mai. Civvies come first. We have injured, some dying, some worse. Let's fix them up first."
"But..."
"I know you want her, Mai," I said gently. "But they come first."

I was glad I'd seen her like this before though it was still a shock. With Doc's instructions in mind I aimed for a quick clean punch to the head. The idea at least was to knock her out of the game.

"So what?" I asked angrily, "We just let her walk and wait for the next time she does something like this? We cant just let her go everytime! How many people will die if we stop now to help people who are hurt, yeh, but gonna live?" I shook my head, "You take care of them. Get them to safety. I'm going after her." "Maya, no!" He snapped, "You cant go alone!" "I'm a slayer. I'm meant to go alone." I replied, and stalked off. "Mai!" He snapped, rushing after me. I raised my hand, and he hit a magickal barrier. "MAYA!" I hear him yell, but i ignored him. I wasn't gonna sit around any longer. This vampire bitch was not hurting any more innocents.
I could feel power as i walked along the narrow, dark tunnel. I could hear my own heart beat. I sheathed my soul sword, and took out a simple wooden knife- the blade was about half a foot long, and about an inch and a half wide- but it was made of lignum vitae, the hardest wood known to man ((all hail Nightworld)) "Come on." I murmured into the cold air as i continued, the sound of dripping water and scurrying creatures all that accompanied my heart beat and footsteps. "Come? I'm already here, sweetie." Said a voice from the shadows of a side tunnel up ahead. I froze. I so didn't want the speaker to show herself. "Where's Grace?" I asked, my voice croaky, but steady. "I'm sorry, Grace isn't here right now, but if you leave a message, i'm sure she'll get back to you later." She said. "Where IS she!?" "What's this obsession with Grace?" She snapped, "I'm actually a little insulted that you're not more eager to fight me." "I dont want to fight you." I said, teeth gritted. "I want to save you." She laughed- a cold, hollow laugh, void of any of the feeling it used to have. "Oh Maya." She said, stepping out of the shadows, "Gracie already did that." I flinched even though i was waiting for it. Rachelles beautiful face was deformed by ridges down her forehead, between her brows. Her eyes were deep yellow, and long, delicate fangs extended from where her upper canines should have been. As she smiled, they indented her lower lip slightly. I swallowed. "I see you followed the vamp tradition of becoming a skank." I said, injecting as much spite into it as i could. "What can i say?" She said, putting her hands on her hips to exentuated the curves of her black leather outfit, which fitted her like a second skin, "I like black." "Get out of my way." I said stiffly. "I think not." She replied. "Chelle, leave!" I snapped. "Na- see, Gracie has this whole thing about being the most powerful, and how only she gets to kill you, but i say screw that! She didnt even know you! And hey, I wanted to kill you before I was turned." "You're not Rachelle." I said. "Arent you the clever one." She hissed sarcastically, before throwing herself at me. We started to fight, but it took a while for me to realise that i was blocking, not attacking- i didnt want to hurt her. Oh goddess i was in trouble. "Come on Mai. I thought you'd be much more fun for a rough an' tumble." She sneered as she threw me against a wall. I kicked out with both feet, and she hit the other wall. By the time i'd got my footing again, she was up, and at me again. "Rachelle, just walk away!" I cried, grabbing her wrists as she grabbed at my shoulders, "Please, just...." I trailed off as her eyes went wide in shock. She glanced down at her chest, then up at me again, her face morphing back to its old form, and for just a moment, she was Rachelle once more- her eyes full of pain and sorrow... Then she disintegrated in a cloud of dust, and i was left staring into the wryly smiling face of Grace.
((now thats what i call a long post- and for the record, i DO have chelle's permission))

"I thought I'd save you the trouble, I said, blowing away the dust. Maya looked shocked. "Admit it, you were never gonna kill her. You knew her too well to do something like that. That's what a soul does to you, lets you hang onto things, onto friends, emotions, weaknesses like that. See, because i don't have a soul, I don't feel remorse. I don't feel sorry for the people that i once knew. That's the problem with you slayers. That's why I've killed so many of you. It's because your so damn predictable, so caring. It makes me sick."

"She was on your team. she worked for you!" I cried in fury. "She was touching what i already claimed as mine." Grace sneered back. "I will never be yours." I replied with gritted teeth and pure anger in my heart. "We'll see." SHe said nastily. I punched her, full in the face. She stumbled backwards, but laughed, "Ooh, fiesty." She teased. "SHut up and bring it on." I said, adjusting the knife in my hand.

I took out two knives from my pocket, both of them very small, but pointy. I was armed quite heavily, I had several knives, a few daggers, a stake, and a sword. I intended this fight to determine who was going to win out of us. Slayer or vampire. Only one of us was going to get out of here, and I intended that one to be me.
I looked her in the eye, challenging her, seeing if she was confident to meet my gaze. She was, and she stared right back, her jaw set, her hand gripping her weapon. Her intentions for this fight was the same as mine, and I grinned. I knew this was gonna be good.

For what seemed like a long time, but was probably mere seconds, neither of us moved. We each knew exactly what the other was doing- sizing the other up. Thinking- this is kill or be killed, and intending- to win. I had stopped Doc and Charlie following me, for now at least, an i guessed that she had ordered her minions away- so neither of us was getting any help. This was between the two of us- maybe it might annoy Jessy, but however harsh it sounded, the young shapshifter couldn't win this fight. Grace was mine. "So what are you waiting for?"I asked. "You afraid?" "I'm never af..." Half way through her word, i attacked, lunging at with the knife. She only just manged to dodge, but spun, elbowing me in the midriff as she did so. I gasped, but forced myself not to double over. I kicked at the back of her knee, and she half-stumbled, recovering quickly- the fight got faster...

She was determined to win this, probably thinking about how many people's lives I had ruined, many of those she had known. She was more focused than before, her mind driven to win this fight.
She had attacked me mid-sentence, but I quickly recovered, each of us blocking and attacking, the fists blurred into legs, daggers into knives. I kicked high at her shoulder, then down at her hip, I missed the shoulder, but caught her hip and she winced in pain, but then backhanded me, and I flew to the wall, my body impacting on the cold stone. She came towards me, panting, exhilarated, determined to finish this fight, and I jumped up, holding onto the bars above and kicking her back in her chest. I dropped down onto the floor, and punched her. She stumbled back, the two blows taking her badly, but she recovered before I could attack again, and the fight went on.
(((your turn)))

She knocked me down, but i flipped up from the ground, kicking her back as i did. She stumbled, and i delivered a front kick to her chest ((and i actually know how to do that now!! ;D )) She growled, swiping at my legs with a spin. I just managed to jump over her leg, but as i landed, she landed a punch to my face. OUCH. I sturck with my knife, burrowing it into her left shoulder, but it was far too high to mortally wound her. "Missed." She said. Wrenching backwards so that the knife came away in my hand, dripping blood...
((your turn!))

"But I must say, very close." I said, grinning at her. I kicked at her face, then again at her chest, and she almost stumbled backwards. I grabbed her just in time though, and took the hand that did not hold the dagger. I pushed it far back, and the sound of her cries mingled with the sickening crack of her wrist breaking brought pleasure to my ears. I kicked her back, and she nestled her hand next to her stomach. She glared at me, then with her other hand, slashed my torso. The wound wasn't deep, but it hurt.
"Bitch." She muttered.
"Aw, how sweet. Here you are, calling me pet names when I haven't had the chance to think one up for you." I mocked her.
She dropped the dagger and all I saw was the palm of her hand closing into my face, breaking my nose. I saw white spots as the pain set in, and blood spouted from my nose, covering her hand as she quickly retracted it.
"You talk way too much." She said, almost triumphantly.

Even as i said it, i delievered a spinning kick to the side of her head, and she toppled. I retrieved my knife- my first mistake. As i stood up again, she was there, and her foot hit my face. I fell backwards with a cry. She came at me while i was on the ground, and only a pretty pathetic kick from that position kept her back. I flipped to my feet, pain throbbing in my left wrist. I struck, she dodged, she struck, i dodged, the fight was going again, both of us wounded, but not too badly. It was like a dance, each anticipating the others moves, dodging, countering... but eventually one of us would make another mistake. One of us would get through...

I barely thought as I blocked and attacked her. Every move can naturally to me, more naturally than it ever had before. I felt as if I was born to fight this girl, this slayer who matched my physical strength. I felt as if it was my purpose to fight this girl. I have been alive for over two centuries, and never had I felt more comfortable fighting than I did now. It was strange, but true. I felt as if it was my live's purpose to fight her, and I knew that if I lost, I would be beaten by the best. I also knew that if I won, I would not only win against the best, but I knew that after this, everything would be pointless. There would be no challenge to anything, no slayer I would fight against in the future would match up to the strength this girl had, and everything would seem so meaningless and pointless.
I had never been one for fate, or purpose in one's life, my philosophy had always been to make the choices, not let some higher purpose do it for you. I had always thought that I decided what my purpose in this world would be, but as I fought and defended myself against her, I knew that had been wrong.
And with that in mind, my attacks were more furious, more aggressive as everything that I had ever known was blown away before my eyes.

Grace suddenly got more violent- it might sound redundant in a fight, but she went wild, stabbing and stiking at every possible moment- she was furrious, and i couldn't quite work out why. This fight was incredible- we were so evenly matched that it would almost be a shame to kill her. But i would. I had to. So i kept up with her blind rage. It meant that i was mostly blocking, but even blocks can pack a punch, and i wasn't gonna let those attacks through. I just had to keep in control until i got my chance...
