I couldn't help but smile, leaning into his hug, "Right back atcha." I said, then frowned, "Cept, brother." He chuckled. "I'll call Will." I said. "And, ah... if she talks to any of you, or turns up... could we not mention the whole nearly dying thing?"

"You think I want to get my ass kicked any more than I probably will when she finds out what's going on?" I said. "She ain't findin' out off me."

I giggled, and pulled ou of his hug to pick up the phone. I dialled, the other watching a little awkwardly. It rang, then i heard "Hello?" on theline. "Hey, Will, it's me." "Hey Mai! Hows it going?" "O...ok." I swallowed, "But, erm, i need your help on something..."

I looked down at teh offending dark blue stone that had caused this. "This is your fault," I accused the stone.

"Very mature Doc. Blame a stone." I grinned. "Mai, you should really organise your stones better." I looked around the apartment. "In fact you should arrange everything better. Mind if I..?" What can I say? I'm a librarian to the core.

I began to chuckle. Til Maya handed me the phone. "What?"
"She wants to talk to you," Maya said.
"Ah, hell," I muttered, taking the phone. "Hello?"
"What's taken you this long to find her?" Was Willow's demand. I winced. This could be interesting.

"What's wrong with my organising?" I asked Jessy as Doc took the phone. "Just... erm..." She swallowed. "All the healing stones are together, all the dangerous stuff is hidden where you couldnt even see it unless you knew it was there- literally. My apartment is pretty neat, thank you very much." I mock-pouted.

"Yes, well it would be better if you had a cross referencing system or even just a system. Then everything would be easy to access." My fingers were juist itching to get to work on a stack of boxes in the corner.

I leapt off the bed, cursing my aching limbs t get between Jess and my boxes, "Accessible but impossible to find." I snapped. She looked at me like i was mad. "look, Jess... this is what works for me. Start organising things and i'll never be able to find what i need when i need it." "But... it's totally illogical." "As is my mind. Seriously- ask me for something you know i have, and i'll find it easy peasy. It may be a mess to the untrained eye, but i know where everything is."

"That's the point. YOU know where everything is. But one of us couldn't find anything in here. What if you went away again? If we needed something we might kill ourselves." I was persistant.

"I'm not going anywhere." I said defensively. "And it's not that bad! Everything is labelled, ok!? And i already told you- all the dangerous stuff is protected- i'm not stupid!"

"Oh...nevermind. Who cares? I just wanted something to organised." I moved into the corner with a sigh and looked longingly around me.

My sudden movement had made my head spin, "Ooh, headrush..." I murmured as Jessy backed down. Charlie ran to my side and helped me back to the bed, "Damn i hate being the invalid." I snapped.

It'd been five minutes of Willow babble (I didn't even understand most of it))) Before i could finally get a word in edgewise.
"Willow, I didn't even know I had another sister," I said, whispering so as not to hurt Mai. "My parents bailed on me and sis when I was five, the second they realised I wasn't leaving her, despite the fact she was half demon. I haven't heard hide nor hair of them in eighteen years! Now, I don't know if Mai's my half sister, or what, not that it matters; nothing else is happening to her. We just need to know the truth. Now, can you help, please?"

Sitting back on the bed, hearing what Doc was saying despite his lowered voice, and understanding that none of it was meant to harm, I thought about what this could all mean. Could my parents really be the same people who left Doc and his half demon sister? It really depended how old his sister would have been... But i was a telepath before i met Willow- perhaps not a strong one, but a telepath never the less, and i felt no malice within them. I considered that perhaps Doc's parents weren't really his parents- maybe somehow he and his sister were actually of MY parents, and were lost somehow, ending up with the bastards who had no problem with deserting the children who were not their own. Or perhaps... maybe my parents werent my parents, and my siblings not my siblings. Maybe i was the one who was lost, and adopted by a totally different family... I felt tears coming to my eyes as i thought of my siblings... what if they weren't?
