Well now, The Spot wouldn't exactly be the place of choice to hang out in but it had lots of people, lots of loud music, provocative dancing and drinks. Exactly the kind of place I was being pushed to.
Usually when you find that the locks at your place have been changed, well you're like "Damn." and first thoughts are your ex has to be responsible right? Right. So not having an ex puts me at a disadvantage. Second thoughts could range from "Did I do it and forget?" or "Those pesky friends of mine!" of which I chose the latter, knowing exactly who it was and what message they were trying to throw in my face.
Which brings me here.
Sitting at the bar, nursing a coke and watching everyone dancing. The barman was occasionally throwing me a few looks and I wondered if I thought I was a slayerette, always bringing trouble which would entail either blowing up the bar or killing the barman.
No. Tonight I was just Tucker, a kid looking for a life.

I sauntered in, tired after a long patrol. I just wanted to kick backl and relax. Noticing Tucker I strolled over."You look down. Something wrong?" And to the barman I said "Orange juice."

I may not have done it conciously, but when she stood next to me I straightened up. I gave a small smile and took a sip of my coke before answering
"Nothing in particular's wrong, just a general feeling. I've patrolled three times and nothing has flown out at me. Nada. Not wanted by demons, not wanted by girls, not even wanted by my apartment." I paused and rewound over what I'd said. "Okay so maybe so maybe it wasn't as general as I thought." I admitted.

"Not wanted by your apartment?" I was confused.

"Nicki's been trying to get me out more. I guess she's just playing the concerned best friend role, but today she changed the locks so I would definately be out... I usually just hole up with my PS2."

"Well, I'm not saying out would be a bad idea.." I snapped my fingers. "Wait, it might have been Mal. Now that you are back he would have installed the new security locks. Loads of trick codes and stuff but all you need to do is ask Mal, he'll do a couple of scans and you are in." Tucker gave me a blank look. "Ok bad explanation."

"Mal is the super computer that runs the Dojo and keeps track of use. My cyber brother. He was designe- His mother was Jasmine. He- he's amazing. He has a personality. He protects us and his gadgets are amazing." I trailed off.

"Oh. Okay cool." I drank the rest of my coke and set down the empty class with a clink. "Wow, you've got like this whole family now, that must be pretty awesome."

"Do I know what it's like? Uh, no. I guess I could call Nicki a kind of sister and I want to like get a cat so it can be like my son or daughter. That'd be cute."

"Yeah!" I smiled. "I went to a pet shop a few days ago and saw a beautiful little white kitten with big green eyes and a grey diamond on top of her head. If she hasn't gone by the weekend then I wanna buy her but I've been trying to come up with a good name."

"Ah, Tucker, there you are," I said, walking up to join them. "I've been looking for you everywhere. Here."
"What's in this?" He asked, taking the envelope.
"ID, key cards, DNA recorders," I listed. "I tried to find you before Mal installed the new system, but I obviously didn't get teh chance."

"Um, okay cool." I rifled through the contents of the envelope and grinned. "This is so awesome. It's like a maximum security spy kit or something!"
