I laughed, raising my drink. "Well then, a toast to the unexpected," I said, taking a sip. Sure, he wasn't my favourite person in the world, but Maya saw something in him and that was good enough for me. Plus, I thought it was rather unfair to judge him quite yet, seeing as our first meeting left something to be desired and didn't really delve into the type of person he was. So I resolved to give him a chance.
Of course, I couldn't just leave it at that. "Joshua?" I said, getting his attention. "You know, I picked up a lot of great torture methods in Japan. You might like some of them."
He nodded, swallowing. "Got it," he replied.
I grinned. "Good," I said, taking another sip.

"Gee, what is it about Maya that vgets people in the torturing mood?" I asked. Del raised an eyebrow. "I've been slinging threats at him since they started. For a while, i thought it was just me."

'Oh no I have a like a whole storage system in my brain devoted to possible torture methods just in case anything happens' I looked over at Joshua who seemed paler than usual 'Sorry J but Mai means muchly'

I grinned widely, a feeling of great warmth spreading within me at their protectiveness. I snuggled up against Josh, slipping my arm around him, and he relaxed slightly,
"Great." He murmured, "So, thats Doc, Aredhel, Ate and Nicki who have all threatened me." He looked down at me, "ANyone said they'd hurt you if you hurt me?" He asked. I shook my head, the grin even wider,
"Nope." I replied.

I walked in, and sat at the bar.
"Something strong, preferably not in a shot glass." I said the the barkeeper.
He got the drink, and placed it on the bench thing, I ignored the glass he gave and drank from the bottle.
"This stuff IS strong!" I sais after I took my first drink from the bottle.
I turned to the rest. "So, what's goin' on?" I asked, taking another drink.

I raised my eyebrows, still staring at the new arrival but not speaking to him. "He's new," I said, mostly to Maya who was right beside me. Torture was forgotten as I held out my hand in greeting.
"Aredhel," I introduced. "And you are?"

I glared at all of "our friends" and mumbled sarcastically so only they could hear, "I'm really feeling the love here guys. Really, it's got me right here," I then reached around my back and pounded my fist there, a perfect example of someone stabbing me in the back.

I looked up from my book. "What was that about love? Oh, by the way Joshua, just wanted to tell you that if you every hurt Mai, I will rip out your blood circularatory system artery by artery, vein by vein, capilary by capillary, ending with your heart. Oh hi Cervil!"

"Explain to me again why we hang out with these people, and keep in mind that I'm the one that sets up the destinations for our exotic world travels on our dates," I reminded my girlfriend, who smiled at me, hopefully with a convincing explanation, or even a defense of me to our friends at the very least.

"Cos they luv ya really." I said with a grin, poking him in the stomach. "They're just over protective of me cos i'm an innocent little girl and you're a big strong man."
He looked a little happier, and i decided not to mention the whole slayer strength and magic thing... it just wasnt the point.

"OK, thanx for bringing that up Rory," I smiled and then looked around the group and asked in a loud enough voice, "How many people here have supernatural strength? Not ability, like magic and shapeshifting, Strength."
I then raised my hand. Mai, a moment after me. Aredhel was the last to raise her hands. The others, knowing they had skills, powers even, and were as lethal as the three of us, couldn't beat us in the strength department.
"Slayer strength," I reminded everybody else. "Hell, everyone should be more afraid of Mai hurting me. First off, she had Faith as one of her teachers. 'Get some, get gone', I believe was one of her catch phrases."
I paused, while Maya grinned all around, whether actually proud of me, or trying her hardest not to drag me out back and throttle me before half-raping me in the alley.
"Secondly, the only other woman I've felt as strongly as I feel for Mai, I didn't love, and our relationship from the very start was a lie that I turned into something worse than it should have been. What I feel for Mai, is not a lie. And she would know a lie the moment it was in my head. And what's more . . ."
Mai gasped the moment before I said it, her eyes welling up in unshed tears that slowly spilled over as I told everyone before us, " . . . I truly, and deeply, love, and am head over heels *IN* love with Maya the Vampire Slayer."
