I sat in the Spot with the gang, gathered around the bar as usual. I sat sideways on Joshuas lap, leaning against the bar. Aredhel, Nicki, Doc, Jessy, Rory, 'Chelle and Killian stood or sat close by, and we talked about the latest happenings in the so called city of angels. As usual, there were vamps in the bar, and each of us kept a corner of an eye on them, just waiting for the soulless bastards to slip up. A movement caught my eye, and i turned, just slightly, to see a Red-haired girl grinning coyly as she and her undead partner danced their way towards the edge of the dance floor...

As I danced in the club, one I hadn't been in before, I could barely conceal my revulsion for the undead creature whose arms were round my waist. Of course I'd done this plenty of times before but I couldn't wait to turn this one into a pile of ashes. It wasn't long before he suggested going outside-vamps they are so predictable-so we moved slowly towards the edge of the dance floor. As we did I glanced over at the bar, I was surprised to see someone watching me. She was pretty, very pretty and seemed human but appearances can be deceiving. The crowd she was with were most definitely not all human, even without slayer senses I could pick out the vampire to her left, though an untrained eye wouldn't have noted the pale skin and the way she sat so relaxed-no inhibitions, or fear. I gave her a small smile as we left, I thought she might follow with the vampire, to get a share in the easy meal I always seemed to be. Sure enough I had only just dusted the vampire when the two came bursting out of the door. “Thought you’d get an easy meal?” was the first thing I said to the vampire. I had a nagging feeling I’d seen her before and it was annoying the hell out of me. The girl with her though…she was confusing. One thing was certain in my mind, they weren’t coming to help me. Neither of them answered me but looked around them, presumably for the vampire who was now lining the alley way. “Looking for your friend?” I asked casually. “He’s dust.” They stared at me in confusion, obviously surprised that I knew about the undead. “Now I know you’d go the same way,” I continued, “But how about you?” I turned to the girl and before she could say anything I flew at her with a kick that snapped her head backwards. She recovered quickly and stood in a familiar fighting stance. I shot a volley of punches at her but she was quick, and strong-unnaturally so.

The vampire lead the redhead from the bar, as i'd known he would. I rolled my eyes, and hopped down off Josh's lap, "Del- i reckon it's our turn." "urgh, ok." She replied, "Lets dust the dude and get back to the drinks." I grinned at her as we left the group, and they made the routine promises to come check if we weren't back in ten minutes. Just inside the door, we heard the unmistakable sounds of a fight, and quickened our pace, bursting into the side alley to see only the girl, and no vamp. We both looked around in confusion. [what the...?] I said in Del's mind. she faintly shook her head. "Thought you'd get an easy meal?" The redhead sid cockily to Del. More confusion. "You looking for your friend? Hes dust, and i know you'd go the same way... but what about you?" Now, if i hadn't come out here with the intension of saving the innocent girl, i would have been ready, and dodged, but as it was, i was just not ready for her foot to come flying at my face. One word. Ow. As i flipped back to my feet and took a fighting stance, i flew all the way from confused to thoroughly pissed off. "What the hell was that!?" I cried. Del too was ready for a fight, and the girl looked... satisfied? "We came out here to HELP you!" I snapped to the redhead.

"Yeah and she's a good vampire." I said with my best sarcastic emphasis on the good. "And-" the girl said as if I had just said that the sky was blue. "Well Vampire's are pretty much scum, and whatever you are can't be much better." My old hatred resurfaced and as the adrenaline surged I spun, kicking the girl in the stomach. She responded with a powerful backhand that sent me flying. It hurt like hell but I wasn't too worried, my track record was good in fights like this, even a slayer'd be proud of it. As the fight began in earnest, i could feel the perspiration forming and my muscles strained to their limits to fight this girl. I didn't know what the hell she was, it was the hardest fight I could remember. We traded blow for blow and I could feel myself getting tired so I put my hand inside my boot where I knew my favoured, actually my only permanent, weapon was stashed. It was perfect for situations like this-it could kill anything with it’s pointed wood at one end and silver blade at the other. It had never let me down and I trusted it wouldn’t now. I looked as though I was winded, leaning over to pull the smooth ebony handle out my boot, and the girl paused for a fraction of a second. I straightened up and put the blade to her throat but she was so damned fast and her arm was pinning my neck to the wall. It was stalemate and I was scared, s**t scared actually though you probably wouldn’t have guessed it. The girl looked carefully at me and there was a flash of recognition in her brown eyes.

"Ok, now im on to curious." I said. This girl had shocked me- she was a damned good fighter. Of course, with slayer strength and speed, she wasn't that much of a worry to me, and what she definitely didnt know was that i had just silently errected a magical force field about myself to protect me from that gorgeous blade in her hand. Her fighting style, though... i couldn't help but recognise it. "You fight like a slayer." I said. "I guess you've fought one then?" She snapped back. "Who the hell are you, girl?" I asked, shaking my head, "Cos i know you're not a slayer..." She seemed about to say something, but i continued, "Because I AM a slayer." Now i guess it was her turn to be shocked.

((Almost two whole days without the internet!! aaaagh I'm suffering withdrawl!! but I'm back! wooo!!))
I clapped my hands, almost sarcastically, a glower fixed on my face. I knew Maya could handle herself - she almost always could, and a human shouldn't have been much different - but if that girl landed one more punch, I would have been forced to intervene. Ok, so I was really looking out for myself and the fact that she seemed to think I was evil, but really, what difference did it make? Maya won anyways.
I just grinned at the shocked look on her face. "Yup, good ol' Maya the Vampire Slayer," I said, clapping a hand on her shoulder. "And before you even think about putting me in with the rest of the scum that is the undead, I would like to inform you of two things. One, I am an elf and therefore I have a soul. And two, your wannabe slayer moves will not dust me."
Yea, it was harsh, but I am a vampire. Soul or not, I was gonna be harsh. Tough love, baby. I paused, looking at her closer.
"You look familiar," I said slowly. "Have I threatened you before?"
((lol I know, stolen blatantly from PotC, but it's one of the best lines in the world!))

I revealed myself from the shadows, gun pointed at where the newcomer had stood before.
All three of them gave me confused looks.
"Oh, yes, this, well, it's simple, if she kept that up, I was going to give her a serious case of lead poisoning!" I half threatened, half pointed out.
I then put the gun back, and asked, "So, who are you?"

Before she could answer, I stepped into the alley, much the same way the Netherworld fighter had done, but that's only because the alley was absolutely filled with shadows.
"Hey, what's taking so long?" I asked as I walked up to my girlfriend and friends. "Who's this?" I asked curiously.
With a glare that was almost worthy of a pissed off Slayer, the redhead girl, looking from either Ireland or Scotland to me for some reason, she spat at me, the spittle of course never reaching me and cried from Maya's sudden grip on her, "The name is Charlette you scum-sucking undead bastard! You vampires are all alike, no matter what a Slayer may say about you!!"
I stared, a little stunned at the hell fury Maya was barely holding against the wall, and not for lack of trying.
Then I turned to Aredhel and asked, my voice sounding as stunned as I looked, "I look like a vampire?"

I regarded Joshua for a second, dropping any toughness in such a sudden way that must have shocked the newcomer.
"Y'are kinda pale," I said apologetically. "But hey, just spend some time with Maya in the sun as opposed to hanging out in dark alleys all the time. There is more to life than hunting vampires you know..."
"You wish," the new girl spat. "Your kind will be hunted, and they will die."
I rolled my eyes. "I f*cking wish."

I angrily pulled the gun out and pointed it to the girl's head and shouted to her "You hurt any one of these people, I will blow you f*cking brains out, you understand?"
She looked scared at my sudden explosion, so did everyone else who was there.
"Now, you'd better calm yourself down, and tell us who you are, and why your here!" I said, now more calm then before, I pointed the gun to her mouth, "or I'll show you what metal tastes like when it's blasted into your mouth and a thousand kilometres an hour!!"

((kilometers!! kilometers!! You use metric I LOVE YOU!!! aaagh i hate the stupid imperial system...))
In a second, the gun was in my hands. In another second, it was in pieces on the ground, and not the kind of pieces that could be easily put back together either. The broken pieces.
"Do not," I said calmly, "try that ever again. She has a lot of pain in her past. I'm not digging deep enough for the specifics, but she has a right to hate me. Maya can take care of herself, and Joshua... well, Maya can take care of him too."
I held back the smirk, but I knew what Joshua thought of that. But I just couldn't resist: he was such an easy target for all these snide comments.

I meant what I was wearing, but whatever.
Even as Aredhel said that, almost right at me, the girl seemed to flick something from one hand to the other, and then faster than even we could move, kneed Mai in the gut, knocking the wind out of the Slayer and forcing her to let go of the redhead, who immediately lunged at Aredhel with the unfamiliar weapon in her hand.
Decisions, decisions, I thought. Let Aredhel handle it herself, or disprove that whole 'can't take care of myself' comment.
Even as the girl began to move, just far enough away that Aredhel couldn't immediately handle it, I . . . well I didn't exactly blur, but more like one instant I was where I was standing, the instant before the next one, I was standing in front of the angry redhead, holding her weapon hand.
"It's not nice to play with sharp objects, somebody could lose an eye," I did the whole Slayer - quip thing.
She instantly tried several advanced self-defense techniques, which, still holding tightly to her weapon hand, I easily blocked or turned aside, my own Slayer reflexes coming into play.
Then, she suddenly launched a combo at me that Mai had taught me once. Arching an eyebrow in curiosity, I easily ducked, blocked, and countered the move, but in the process, lost my grip on her weapon hand, allowing her to immediately recover from my light-counter and start another combo that I could have sworn I had seen somewhere.
I easily stepped into the counter-steps, enjoying a workout I normally only got with Doc or Mai (and the latter only since we started dating). However, having gotten such workouts before, I quickly got bored, and as she was striking with a high-kick, I leaped straight up into the air, which thanks to a nearby light in the alley, was covered in black shadows.
Before she could attack anyone else, or anyone else could restrain her once again, ten of me suddenly dropped out of the shadows above all around her.
"Hi," the ten me's said together. Then they all got into an identical fighting stance and said together, "Do you wanna dance . . .?"
"Or do you want to calm down and talk about this?" I, the real, original me, finished asking from directly above her. Startled, she looked up, and saw my face inches from her own.
I was holding myself upside down, attached to a ventilation bar that was running across the top of the alley with a special ninja technique.
"Hi," I said again, even as my dopplegangers vanished in poofs of smoke.

"How was I to know her history, she was bloody threatning people with every breath she took!" I argued, "besides, you didn't have to break my gun, bloody hell! Now I have to go get another one!! You don't see me going around snapping other people's weapons to a point to where they can't be repaired, now do ya? Bloody hell!"
"You finished?" Aredhel asked.
"Well, um, yeah..." I was amazed at how quickly I could anger up, then calm down. I braced myself for screaming, hitting, injuries, stuff like that.

Aredhel and Mai then both just snapped their fingers, using their own magicks, and just like magic, two Desert Eagles, no doubt loaded with the most lethal hollow point bullets the girls knew about, appeared in both of Cervil's hands.
"Now be quiet while the nice stupid vampire hating girl tells us her story," one of them snapped at him.
I just grinned, watching it all from a birds eye view and making sure the girl in question didn't decide to skip out on us.

(((Aaaaaahhhhhhh! The torture of going to bed early.)))
So far I had been watching from a real birds eye view. Now I swooped down to land next to Mai. Shifting back, I smiled at the look on the newcomer's face as a perfectly harmless owl turned into a girl.
